Science takes over the center of Trieste once again this Saturday and Sunday, 2-3 September with the Trieste Maker Faire in Piazza Unità.
“I would like to thank ICTP that promoted together with Comune this great event. Piazza Unità will turn into science fair this weekend yet again,” said deputy mayor Serena Tonel at the presentation of the event.
The Faire is heralded as a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and love sharing what they can do. A range of over 300 engineers, artists, scientists, and crafters from across the region, Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria use the event to show their hobbies, experiments, and projects to the general public.
“Science is all around us,” added ICTP’s Sandro Scandalo, “your phone is a great example of how scientist made your daily communication possible. It is a great analogy of Trieste Maker Faire, where every stand is a scientific marvel.”
“We are really privileged in many ways here in Trieste,” said Serena Mitten from Immaginario Scientifico.
“It’s always difficult to maintain the attention of younger viewers, however there will be something for everyone this weekend. There’s no limit to the fantasy of our makers. All kids are welcome,” added Carlo Fonda, one of the organizers of Trieste Maker Faire.
The Maker Faire will take place: Saturday 2 pm- 9 pm and Sunday 10 am – 12 pm; 2 pm – 7 pm.
Check out the program on the Trieste Maker Faire website or #tsmmf posts on Facebook and Twitter for details on the talks, workshops and challenges on offer this weekend, all free and open to the public.
