Earlier this year, I bought a deck of gratitude cards and have committed to contemplating one each day during the month of January.  As I reflected on the quote, I was inspired to write a few related comments.

Studies show that gratitude improves our sleep, strengthens our immune systems, enhances our relationships, increases our social support and leads to greater happiness, among other benefits.

My hope is that the quotes and thoughts I’ve shared below will uplift and benefit you.  Feel free to leave a comment at the end of the post. And, if so inspired,  include your favorite gratitude quote!

“Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions.

The more you express gratitude for what you have,

the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.” – Zig Ziglar

A Thought to Ponder

As you move throughout your day, notice what brings you a sense of peace and joy.

Stop for a moment, and let the feelings of gratitude dwell within you.

Watch the miracles unfold.

“If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation,

you will discover that your life will suddenly

be filled with gratitude.” – Rabbi Harold Kushner

A Thought to Ponder

It’s easy to focus on the negative situations in our lives.

It’s how our brains are structured, based on how our ancestors learned to survive.

As we begin looking at the blessings in every situation – even those that may cause us pain –

we find a light streaming through the window – and become empowered.

“Be mindful. Be grateful. Be positive. Be kind. – Roy T. Bennett

A Thought to Ponder

Like a boomerang, what we give comes back to us.

Being mindful expands our awareness.

Being grateful leads to greater happiness.

Being positive helps us focus on the Good in our lives.

 Being kind awakens our hearts.

Making any of these a daily practice

helps us feel more connected to ourselves, to others and to life.

They help us live in the present and experience a greater sense of peace.

“Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

A Thought to Ponder

What if we treated everything we do and see as sacred?

How would our lives be different?

Perhaps hard to do in the midst of challenging situations and relationships,

but if we’re able to shift our perspective in difficult situations, it could be life altering.

When faced with a challenge, asking ourselves “What would love do in this situation?”

can make a profound difference in our response, and

lead to a greater health, joy and contentment.

Wishing you much love.

In gratitude,
