The show will be presented at the Politeama Rossetti as part of the theatrical program by Teatro Stabile del Friuli Venezia Giulia on February 19th and 20th. The duo of Umberto Orsini and Franco Branciaroli, directed by Massimo Popolizio, promises an engaging performance. ‘The Irresistible Boys’ is among the most anticipated titles of the season, with two performances scheduled for Monday, February 19th, and Tuesday, February 20th, at 8:30 PM.

‘The Sunshine Boys’ (‘The Irresistible Boys’) by Neil Simon, first performed in 1972, has become a classic with its clever dialogue and subtle melancholy.

The title characters, two vaudeville actors who worked together for years before falling out, are asked to reunite for a TV special, leading to humorous misunderstandings and touching moments reflecting on friendship and aging.

In the hands of Orsini, Branciaroli, and Popolizio, Simon’s script pays homage to actors, capturing their quirks and struggles while celebrating the theater.

Simon’s comedy has gained classic status over the years, aiming to capture deeper themes beyond mere entertainment.

Inspired by real-life vaudeville stars, ‘The Sunshine Boys’ has seen numerous successful stage adaptations worldwide and was adapted into a film in 1975 starring Walter Matthau and George Burns.

Peter Brown, director of the British School, will discuss Neil Simon’s work on February 20th at 6 PM in the Bartoli Room. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis.
