An old Sanskrit saying goes, “One must have a king size breakfast, lunch like a common man and dine like a poor in order to have a healthy life.” The Italian traditional colazione is full of royal pastries, brioches, croissants and hot coffee. Let’s take a look at some healthy breakfast options in Trieste.

Mug

Located in Piazza Attilio Hortis, 6 Mug offers vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free breakfast options. They offer soy milk for coffee, gluten and lactose-free brownies, banana breads and many more. They are also the only ones to serve the variety of teas from French Company “Kusmi”. Their specialty includes black tea, green tea, detox tea and many more blends for soothing effects.

Mimi e Cocotte

Located in Via Luigi Cadorna, 19, this is a place for home-made food served with a smile. Muesli, scrambled eggs and real American style pancakes are especially recommended.

Home Sapore di casa

Centrally located in Via Giusto Muratti, 1, this  place is not to miss if you are near Piazza Unità. Here you can get some bagel based options with a variety of stuffing. The Indonesian Tempeh is also one of their peculiar dishes, and the vegan brunch is especially recommended.

Genuino

Located in Via delle Beccherie, 13 Genuino is a concept cafe that blends American fast food with Trieste-style buffet. If you are looking for guilt free fast food then this is the place to go. Genuino specialize in providing home made and healthy fast food. They have a variety of vegan and vegetarian options to go for. Grilled veggies, cereal bowls and vegan salad are a must-try here!

I was born and raised in India, and I moved to Trieste in Jan 2022 after my wedding - it was love at first sight (in both cases)! Trieste chose us to be here, and I am more than happy to start my married life in the fairytale city of Trieste. I am also a psychologist, author, and an avid traveler with a PhD in adolescent psychology. Back in India, I ran a mental health care firm named Ayuda Mind Care. My expertise lies in curating personalized mind care routine and self-help journals. I ended up writing a book called “Humanology: The secret of human nature” during lockdown. Travelling to places and exploring profound layers of human nature is therapeutic for me. I can’t imagine my life without my work and coffee, maybe that’s why I landed in Trieste!
